🎸 Recovery Rocks! A Night to Celebrate Music, Community & Recovery

On September 18, 2025, the Token Lounge in Westland looked a little different. The stage lights still shined bright, but this time the bar served mocktails instead of beer, liquor bottles were covered, and every sign pointed toward one message: Recovery Rocks.

Hosted by the Recovery Action Network of Michigan (RANMI) in partnership with Hegira Health, Recovery Rocks! Battle of the Bands brought together 136 attendees—people in recovery, allies, professionals, and community partners—for an unforgettable night of music and celebration in honor of National Recovery Month.

The energy was electric from the very first song. Local bands represented the heart of our recovery community, including Trauma to Love, The Devil Elvis Show, E.N.S., and Good Man’s Brother. Each band delivered powerful performances filled with passion, purpose, and connection.

After a close competition, The Devil Elvis Show took home the “Rock On” trophy—an illuminated hand-sign award symbolizing the spirit and strength of recovery. Both The Devil Elvis Show and Good Man’s Brother have already been invited back to compete again next year, and we can’t wait to see who joins them on stage!

Our Emcee, Jamen Spitzer—a person in recovery and staff member with The Phoenix, an organization that builds a physically active sober community—kept the crowd engaged and the energy high throughout the night. Guests enjoyed incredible chicken and waffles from The Iron Food Truck, whose owner is also in recovery.
