As we move into the final stretch of 2025, we’re feeling especially grateful here at the Recovery Action Network of Michigan. This year has been full of connection, collaboration, and countless moments that remind us why recovery community work matters so deeply. From expanding our peer-led programs, to welcoming new partnerships, to watching our Recovery Community Center grow into a true gathering place for healing—every step has been possible because of you.
Whether you’ve attended a group, volunteered your time, donated, supported a loved one, or simply shared our mission with someone who needed to hear it—we are grateful. You are part of this community, and we couldn’t do this work without you.
As we head into the holiday season, we want to acknowledge something important: the holidays can bring joy, but they can also bring challenges. For many in recovery, this time of year can be overwhelming, emotional, or lonely—and that’s okay to name. While our center will be closed on certain days, we encourage you to plan ahead, lean into your support system, and set yourself up with a holiday recovery plan that helps you feel grounded and connected.
A few things to consider this season:
- Identify the meetings, groups, or sober events you plan to attend
- Connect with a sponsor, peer, or trusted sober support
- Set boundaries that honor your recovery
- Have a “backup plan” in place if things get stressful
- Give yourself permission to step away, take breaks, or reach out for support
We believe in multiple pathways of recovery, and we want you to have tools that work for you. If you’re looking for sober activities during holiday closures, many local Alano Clubs host Alcathons—24-hour AA meetings that offer a safe alternative to holiday gatherings. The Phoenix app (New Form) also lists sober events and fitness-based meetups happening daily across Metro Detroit. And for mental health crises, call or text 988 for immediate support.
As we prepare for December, keep an eye out for:
- RANMI’s Annual Report — coming mid-month
- Our full list of 2026 programs and groups
- New partnerships and events that we can’t wait to share
This community continues to grow stronger because of the people in it. Thank you for walking alongside us, for sharing your stories, for showing up for yourselves and each other, and for believing in the power of recovery.
We are wishing you a peaceful, grounded, and safe start to the holiday season.
