A Year of Growth, Community, and Gratitude

A Letter from Our Executive Director

As we come to the close of another year, I’ve been reflecting on just how much has changed — and how much we have to be grateful for.

Recovery Action Network of Michigan began as a vision rooted in lived experience: a belief that recovery should be accessible, inclusive, and grounded in community. What started as a small, grassroots effort has grown into a vibrant Recovery Community Organization serving individuals and families across Western Wayne County.

This year marked a major milestone for RANMI. With the support of community partners, funders, volunteers, and people who believe deeply in recovery, we opened our Recovery Community Center in downtown Wayne — creating a welcoming space where people can gather, connect, and find support without judgment or barriers. From peer-led recovery groups and sober social activities to harm reduction services, education, and community outreach, the center has quickly become a hub of hope, safety, and connection.

Between February and September 2025 alone, we witnessed the power of community in action. Hundreds of individuals participated in recovery groups representing multiple pathways. Naloxone was distributed and overdose prevention education reached families, youth, and community members. We showed up at local events, partnered with schools, treatment courts, and community organizations, and walked alongside people during moments of transition and change.

But numbers only tell part of the story.

Behind every group meeting, event, or training is a person who showed up — sometimes unsure, sometimes hopeful, sometimes just looking for a place to belong. Behind every program is a volunteer, a staff member, or a partner who believed that recovery is worth investing in. And behind every step forward is a community that chose compassion over stigma and connection over isolation.

We recently released our 2025 Annual Report as a way to capture this journey and share the impact we’ve made together. Whether you’re a long-time supporter, a partner, or someone just learning about RANMI, I invite you to read the report and celebrate what’s possible when recovery is supported at the community level.

Most of all, this is a moment to say thank you.

Thank you to our board for their leadership and guidance.
Thank you to our staff and volunteers who bring heart and dedication to this work every day.
Thank you to our partners who walk alongside us and help fill gaps in care.
Thank you to our funders and donors who make free, accessible recovery support possible.
And thank you to every person who has trusted us with their story, their time, or their presence.

As we look ahead, we remain committed to growing thoughtfully, listening closely, and continuing to meet our community where it is. Recovery does not happen in isolation — it happens in relationship — and we are honored to be part of this movement with you.

With gratitude,
