RAN-MI Attends 2024 Society of Social Work and Research Conference

Earlier this month, RAN-MI’s Executive Director Allison Herrst attended the Society of Social Work and Research (SSWR) Conference in Washington DC. This was an exciting event where Allison was granted the opportunity to present her research with Wayne State University on Evaluating the Treatment Outcomes of Individuals with Opioid Use Disorder in Jails using a comprehensive treatment model, including Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) and Peer Support Services. Allison is currently working with her co-writers to publish their work in hopes of expanding the use of peer support to treat addiction for individuals who are incarcerated, especially at the county jail level, where substance use services are often lacking. The 2024 SSWR Conference hosted hundreds of professionals working to advance social work research, and featured research topics such as the effects of recovery on parenting, harm reduction opportunities and interventions, virtual reality simulations to train SUD professionals, recovery support services in criminal-legal settings, and so much more!
